Our second Illustration project was to do a portrait of an obscure inventor. I chose Dr. August Dvorak, inventor of the Dvorak Simplified Keyboard Layout. The illustration had to be drawn from a reference photograph, include the whole figure, show the invention, use one word and two colors.
I tried to capture the heartbreak of Dvorak spending HIS WHOLE LIFE trying to promote his keyboard layout, but ultimately no one really listening to him.
