Congrats on the Acting Director assignment! That's a testament to your teaching skills. Fantastic news.

Good luck with the planned move. Aim for Portland -- we're hoping to get there in a year or so ourselves!

Hi Alec,

I got Basewood in the post yesterday and immediately read it.

Glorious stuff. Beautiful movement through time, emotion and space. Well done on sticking it out and now I'm looking forward to sitting down with all of them and reading it over again in one sitting.

Congrats good sir!!

Comment on Family Time In Philadelphia

My name is Stephen Stockton Aitken, the grandson of Ann Strawbridge and John W. Claghorn, the son of Susan Claghorn and Richard Pilling. I knew Thatcher Longstreth when I was a boy and spent a graet deal of time with my Grandfather (John W. Claghorn) after my fater died in a car accident in l951. We called him "Pop" and he was very strict. He thought it was his duty to teach each of us grandchildren to fly flish at Pocono Lake Preserve when we reached 7 or eight years old. I have probably 12 or 13 of his original paintings, my favorite of which is "Valley Green." If I can be of any help to you about Nanna & Pop, Pocono Lake Preserve or anything else, please let me know. Warmest regards - Steve

It was a weird day, I passed through hell and noticed snowballs everywhere, I checked my pants, sure enough, there were monkeys flying out of my butt. "Hmmm, I thought, this could only mean one thing". I rushed to my mailbox and, sure enough, the final installment of "Basewood" had arrived!!! Congrats Alec, I'm glad I lived to see the day.

That video is great. Will you ever grow a beard again? It must be such a relief to be done and have that weight off your mind (literally).
