End of Year CCS Projects!

Thu 5/6/2010

It was a BIG WEEK here at the Center for Cartoon Studies. The seniors turned in their thesis projects on Monday and the first-years all turned in their final projects on Tuesday. Because of my trip, I missed out on most of the crazy, hectic, last minute printing and production work that went on. But everyone managed to get their stuff in on time. Phew!

I read the first-years' projects (and took notes) over the last two nights. It was almost 700 pages of comics from 24 students, which we reviewed during two massive, four-hour critique sessions Wednesday and Thursday. These are some of the best comics I have seen coming out of CCS. All the first-years should be really, really proud of their work. I know that I am EXTREMELY proud of them.

I've got until Monday morning to read 12 of the senior thesis projects (which is easily a couple thousand pages of comics!) and then the thesis review process will begin. It's going to be a fun weekend of reading, let me tell you. I can't wait to see how everything comes together for these students who I have been working with for the last two years.

Commencement is on the 15th, and then it will be summer break! OH MAN, I am going to get so much drawing done this summer. Okay, back to my stacks and stacks of comics to read. Did I mention I have the best day job in the world?
