Don Rosa Interview

Sat 2/3/2007

UH... I'm pretty sure this won't interest too many people, especially because it's almost two hours long, but there is THE most incredible interview with Don Rosa on Google Video. I found this via a post on the Indie Spinner Rack Forums.

For those of you that don't know, Don Rosa was one of my favorite Comics Artists growing up. He basically carried on the legacy of Uncle Scrooge and Donald Duck that Carl Barks built over 50 years of making Comics.

The interview is poorly shot and pretty clumsy all around, but the content really blew me away. It was so fascinating to hear about all of the behind the scenes stuff that was going on when I was reading Comics as a kid. It's also interesting (as usual) to hear how much more popular comics are in other parts of the world, especially Disney comics. At the time of the interview (2000) there were NO Disney comics being produced in the United States! AGGUHUHUGH. What a shame for today's young readers...

If you are a comics artist and you are reading this, going, "Huh? Carl who? Don what?" you REALLY need to track down some old Carl Barks Uncle Scrooge stories. Also, Rosa's masterpiece, "The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck" has recently been collected into two volumes, which I cannot recommend highly enough!
