Mlehh...

Man, how boring is my blog these days?!

I keep writing these long entries (in my head) but then when I sit down to type them out, I realize they are wholly inappropriate to share with the world at large. I should probably be writing in my journal, but lately my hands have been hurting from all my drawing/coloring/computer/teaching duties. So instead, I just keep working on stuff and the thoughts buzz around in my head...

I've been feeling awful sad recently. For many sundry reasons. It's been kind of incredible how awful I have felt each night as I go to bed, and then how much better I feel when I wake up the next day. It reminds me of that old Ralph Waldo Emerson quote that I have always liked:

Finish every day and be done with it. You have done what you could; Some blunders and absurdities crept in; Forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; You shall begin it serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense.

Anyways, I'm getting stuff done, so I guess I should quit complaining. Hey, I finally finished converting The Dvorak Zine into French! It only took me a year and eight months to get it all done. (ugh!) I've got some friends in France proofreading and spellchecking it for me and then I'll get it up on DVzine.org. I'll make some noise when it goes live so everyone can get a laugh out of Frunch, Gabe and me talking in French.

Other exciting things are on the horizon, but I need to sign some stuff before I start yapping my gams about it, so that I don't end up stepping on any toes or putting my foot back in my mouth, where it always seems to end up...

Alright, well... onwards!

We all have our challenges and things that get us down, and though I'm not sure what it could be that is getting to you, you shouldn't let it get to you.

The past few blurbs of news from you have all seemed cool and exciting and since graduating you've been busy and successful.

Anyway, all things are impermanent so whatever it is that has got you blue won't be around forever.

That quote is a good one, btw.

At my dojang we have this great saying that goes something like, "Be sure and leave your problems at the door when you come in to train, if you need them they will still be there for you when you leave." I am also a fan of that Lord of the Rings quote that I know is so nerdy but so true, "It's only a passing thing, this shadow." There's a whole nice paragraph attached to that one but it's a bit long for a blog comment! Anyway, you'll get through this bummer phase. You're ALEC LONGSTRETH for Pete's sake!

I always look for people who make me laugh, or watch some funny movie. Even if it only lasts for a little while. Sometimes it isn't so bad when there's a laugh or two in the middle.
