Your Comics Will Love You Back!

Mon 4/14/2008

Hey, remember back in March when I gave those two lectures about self-publishing up at The Center For Cartoon Studies and The Norman Rockwell Museum? Well, at the time, I put together this big handout to accompany the lectures, and now I've put the whole thing up online!

I did this for a few reasons: 1) A few people asked me to see the notes, and this is the easiest way to share 2) It updates and revises some information from the For The Love of Comics lecture notes and 3) I thought it might have some useful information for up-and-coming self publishers!

Oh, also, a few weekends ago I recorded the REAL "Minicomics Episode" of Indie Spinner Rack (no special guests this time! :P ) And during that episode I talked a lot about the stuff in these notes, so I figure this way Charlie and Phil can just link to the pages directly.

Anyways, I hope it's useful to some of you. Go nuts!

Alec, that was just the best. Thanks for putting that up. I think it is hugely inspiring, with a ton of applicable & extremely useful information. I've always thought the key to your place in comics (in addition to your ability and professionalism) is genuine love and enthusiasm for it. I was happy to see the quote from one of my old teachers, Mr. Robert Weaver. He was a rare man with superb insight. I think the same could be said about you. Keep on rockin' buddy.

Thanks for posting such a great guide Alec - I'm sure I'll be using it with my teaching at some point!

Awesome! I really wanted to come to the lecture at the Norman Rockwell Museum but I had some family obligations... thanks so much for putting this up.
